A passion for languages combined with a drive for business is what has led Aoife Murphy to a successful 25-year career in the Localization industry.
Having studied International Marketing and Languages to a bachelor’s level at Dublin City University, Aoife started off her career as a technical writer, helping major companies developing online help systems and technical manuals.
At a time when the localization industry was growing rapidly in Dublin, moving into business development seemed to be the next logical step to take.
“After a few years of project management, I gradually moved into a more account management and business development-oriented role, as I found myself leaning toward the customer interaction side of the business. I find it invigorating to meet customers and build relationships, and thrilling to work on new business opportunities,” she commented.
Over the following 15 years, she progressed to Director level and helped provide a wide range of services to key clients.
Vistatec welcomed Aoife in June 2015, as a Major Accounts Director. She brought her expertise to the service of the Sales and Marketing team, managing strategic accounts, ensuring the highest client satisfaction while monitoring overall business relationships and working on new client acquisitions.
Since 2017, she is also one of the main drivers of the Think Global Forum Europe, a role in which she thrives on a professional and personal level. “It’s exhilarating,” she says.
“There has been a gap in the industry for this type of collaborative forum and there is a real appetite for people to connect and share. I have been amazed at the level of enthusiasm from invited guests at our networking events, and the energy and willingness to contribute to the conversation during the boardroom sessions”.
When she is not brainstorming to find the best approach to help clients, you will likely find her spending time with her family and cheering them on in their various sailing and basketball activities and looking for the next great travel destination.
Aoife is an alumnus of the Universidad of Alcalá, in Madrid, where she spent a year as an exchange student as part of her bachelor’s degree.
