Vistatec is proud to announce its support of the DCs for Bees Orchard Planting Project.
The project, which has already surpassed its initial 1,000 orchards target, aims to find a home for orchards all across Ireland and ultimately participate in saving the country’s declining bee population. Currently, 33% of Ireland’s bee species face extinction out of 98 total species.
“When we launched DCs for Bees, we committed to raising awareness, becoming advocates, and most importantly taking action to reverse the dramatic decline in Ireland’s pollinators,” said Host in Ireland Founder Garry Connolly.
The initiative is part of Host in Ireland’s Pollinator Plan.
“We hope this initiative acts as an exemplar for other industries to follow suit and make an even bigger difference for this very important global issue,” commented Connolly.
The organization, partnering with the Irish National Biodiversity Centre, will ‘‘enable Ireland for the first time to track concurrent pollination success. Something that is only made possible by planting uniform orchards in multiple locations within the one growing season.”
“Vistatec is delighted to be supporting this project. It is essential that all communities join efforts to take action to preserve biodiversity with practical and local action,” commented Simon Hodgkins, CMO, Vistatec.
The launch event for ‘Orchards in the Community’ saw a panel of biodiversity experts discussing topics including:
