As we move through the beginning of 2025, we enter a time of new resolutions and goal-setting. Vistatec is no different, with an ongoing focus on helping our teams and employees stay focused and happy as we work together to accomplish our mission of helping clients unlock global goals. This is an ongoing effort that requires ongoing work. Everyone’s goals and resolutions may be different. We want to share a few of the core ways in which we can help each of you stay successful and make a fresh start in 2025.
1. Prioritize Your Well-Being
We know that physical and mental health in the workplace are more important than ever. Across all industries, nearly half of all employees now believe that the majority of their life’s stress comes from work. However, only 58% of employees feel comfortable discussing their mental health and work. That’s why, at Vistatec, we promote an open and honest culture that prioritizes well-being as much as productivity.
It starts with the basics. Take frequent breaks and stay hydrated, even when an urgent deadline takes all your attention. Get enough sleep and find ways to manage stress.
Also, take a virtual trip to Zen Time, where Vistatec’s Fernanda offers weekly meditation sessions. You can also take part in our VistaYoga classes. Meanwhile, our Wellbeing Teams channel is an excellent source of regular tips from our office. External resources can also help—these stress management activities are some of our favorites.
2. Set Goals for the New Year
Work is easier to manage when you know what to work towards. That means meeting client deadlines and setting individual and team goals that can cover the entire new year.
Goals can range from the number of projects you complete to different ways in which you can enhance collaboration across your team. But whenever possible, they should be SMART goals: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound. That way, you can measure your progress toward accomplishing them throughout the year. You can also make adjustments where needed to maximize your chances of success.
3. Leverage Time Management Techniques
With the right goals firmly in place, finding the time to accomplish them is the natural next step. Too often, we don’t think of the time we have to work on specific tasks strategically. Instead, we work down our to-do list, which can make us miss ways to get our work done in the most efficient manner possible.
The new year is perfect for finding and optimizing your time management techniques. At its most basic, that means organizing your workspace so you can find what you need more quickly. Avoiding distractions, like setting your phone on Do Not Disturb, can have a similar effect. Other, more advanced time management techniques can include task prioritization through the Eisenhower Matrix or grouping your tasks based on different considerations.
4. Celebrate Your Achievements
As you accomplish goals or complete important projects, take a step back to acknowledge what you have achieved individually or as a team. Celebrating your achievements throughout the year allows you to reflect on your successes and focus on more than the ongoing work, boosting morale for the entire team.
Celebrating your achievements aligns well with our Giving Thanks Initiative in People HR. As part of this weekly initiative, staff can send their weekly «thanks» to someone who helped them—who will, in turn, receive motivating badges. This little celebration can go a long way toward ensuring that we all know the good work happening across Vistatec at any point.
5. Enhance Your Communication
Starting the new year with an emphasis on communication is not necessarily intuitive. After all, we all write emails, message colleagues, and chat with each other every day. Still, communicating effectively with colleagues and managers can take effort, and that effort tends to be well worth the time and investment.
For example, consider setting a goal to write clearer and more concise emails, listen to others more actively, or address conflicts in a professional manner. Each can be practiced intentionally. Improving your and your team’s communication is an ongoing and vast goal. But it can also make an immense difference when looking to make the most of the new year.
6. Engage in Active Team Building
Collaboration and communication within your team can also be enhanced significantly through intentional team-building activities. Consider creating a calendar for 2025 that outlines a variety of these activities throughout the year, including team outings, volunteer events, and team-building exercises.
Once again, this process can start simply. Try scheduling recurring coffee breaks or team meetings. You can also look for social events organized by the HR department in the Social & Events channel. Vistatec’s Wellbeing Channel is another invaluable resource to check out. Starting January 15, HR will post a New Year’s resolution suggestion focusing on mental and physical well-being. The hope is that, if not all, then some of these will stick with us to form an unconscious daily habit to help us in our everyday lives. Finally, consider participating in our global Get Togethers. In 2024, for example, Vistatec employees got together in Ireland, Spain, Poland, Italy, and Argentina.
7. Take Advantage of Professional Development
Finally, make 2025 the year you prioritize professional development for yourself and your team. Staying on top of the industry is vital, especially in the global content and localization field. However, in the daily grind of tasks and deadlines, taking a step back to engage in learning can be difficult.
Look for relevant workshops and conferences to attend. Be intentional about learning new skills and seeking feedback on your work. Through Vistatec, you can also access LinkedIn Learning, which you can use to build new skills and ultimately advance your career.
Start 2025 on the Path to Success
The end of one year is the perfect opportunity to reflect on your successes and challenges, which can help you build a new path forward. As we move into 2025, consider the ways in which you can make an impact for yourself and your colleagues—and how Vistatec can help.
