Vistatec is delighted to announce that Karen Tkaczyk has joined the organization as Director of Sales for the Life Sciences Division. Karen is an accomplished chemist and translator with extensive experience in the drug, medical device, and chemical industries.

Karen earned an MChem in Chemistry with French from the University of Manchester, UK, and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, UK. She began her career as a development chemist in Ireland, before moving to the USA, where she worked for a contract manufacturer of cosmetics and topical medical devices, ending that portion of her career as a QA Manager.

She pivoted into providing language services for the same verticals. From 2005, Karen ran her own business, translating for the full spectrum of life science and chemical companies, including intellectual property, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs. In 2021, she became a key account manager and business development director in the larger localization market.

Karen is an award-winning translator, receiving the Best Performance on a Translation Assignment award from the Institute of Translation and Interpreting in 2017. She is also an American Translators Association member, where she has volunteered extensively since 2007, serving as the Secretary of the Board from 2017 to 2021 and currently as the Chair of the Nomination and Leadership Development Committee. She is also a public speaker and trainer, conversant in the big-picture requirements of translating for regulated life sciences and providing training in scientific and technical writing and editing for translators.
