At Vistatec, we know that a healthy, balanced lifestyle is key to both personal and professional success. We understand that well-being goes far beyond the workplace and impacts every aspect of our lives. That’s why we’re committed to supporting our employees’ health through various wellness programs, as an example we ran initiatives in October and November, which are two months dedicated to some very important health issues.
Walking Together: How Vistatec Embraced Well-Being
October and November are reminders of what it means to come together in the spirit of positive physical and mental health. Across the globe, these months spotlight important well-being dates, like Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and International Men’s Day in November. At Vistatec, we leaned into these events and more through several initiatives centered around employee well-being.
Mental health affects us all in one way or another. Around the world, there is more of a push to educate, listen, and open up spaces where people can talk honestly about their emotional well-being. Positive mental health isn’t just a “nice to have;” it’s fundamental to how we show up in our lives. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but it’s important to have tools and resources available to us.
October: Women’s Health and Mental Well-Being
In October, the world turned pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and so did we. But we didn’t stop at wearing pink ribbons. At Vistatec, we believe awareness must lead to action, and that’s exactly what the Pink October Walking Challenge was all about.
We laced up our trainers, virtually walked around Cuba, and turned each step into a statement of solidarity. It was a reminder that movement, even the small kind, can make a big difference. And it wasn’t just employees taking part. People shared photos of themselves, their loved ones, and even their pets dressed in pink. We proudly donated to charity to mark the occasion and do our bit for the organizations doing such invaluable work in and beyond Pink October.
Breast cancer awareness wasn’t the only focus in October. World Menopause Day on October 18 allowed us to dig deeper into women’s health with a Women & Hormone Health Workshop. Led by Maj Cunningham, this workshop was a hit, not just because of its practical advice on looking after hormone health from a young age, lifestyle choices, and navigating perimenopause, but also because it made space for conversations many of us have been hesitant to have. Hearing about the small changes that can make a big difference—from nutrition to mindfulness—was informative and empowering.
World Mental Health Day also provided a chance to reflect on the importance of looking after not just our physical health but our emotional and mental well-being. To support this, we launched Zen Time in October. This is a series of guided meditation sessions designed to help us find a little stillness in our busy days. Meditation might not be everyone’s go-to solution, but for those of us who’ve tried it, it’s been a revelation. These quiet moments gave us the tools to show up better for work, ourselves, and each other.
November: Championing Men’s Health and Connection
If October was about awareness, November was about connection, specifically, supporting men’s health through International Men’s Day. Held annually on November 19, this day challenges us to reflect on the unique pressures and struggles men face while at the same time celebrating their contributions. We proudly donated to the Movember Foundation to mark the occasion.
Vistatec’s ongoing initiatives, like Zen Time and the Inspire Wellbeing Employee Assistance Program (EAP), also play a key role here. While meditation and EAP might seem like small resources on paper, in practice, they’ve become lifelines for many of us. Having access to confidential counseling or simply knowing that there’s a safe space to talk can make all the difference.
Our Commitment to Wellness is Year-Round
Our health and well-being programs extend beyond these two months. Inspire Wellbeing EAP is available all year long. Our Wellbeing Calendar provides ongoing resources, and the indispensable advice shared during Wellbeing Wednesday is available every week.
Our ultimate aim is to create a positive, inclusive, and healthy workplace culture that reflects our core values of support, understanding, and care.
Prioritize Your Health and Well-Being
We invite all Vistatec employees to use the resources available. Whether attending a yoga session or a meditation class, accessing the Inspire Wellbeing EAP, or simply taking a private moment for mindfulness, these small actions contribute to a healthier, happier life. Remember, wellness is a journey that we’re all on together, and Vistatec is here to support you every step of the way.
